The First China-Central Asia Agricultural Ministers' Meeting was held

Amidst the continuous autumn rain and the gradually thinning crowd, the 30th Yangling Agricultural High-tech Expo successfully completed all its scheduled events and came to a perfect conclusion.

A grand event, a bountiful harvest. In just five short days, the 30th Yangling Agricultural High-tech Expo saw over 2,000 exhibitors from 49 countries and regions, attracting 1.0335 million visits from both domestic and international "fellow countrymen" (locals), and achieving a remarkable trade volume of 111.277 billion yuan. With outstanding results and a strong reputation, the Expo presented a landmark summit with great success.

As the lights dimmed, the excitement lingered. Looking back on this year’s Expo, many of its unique features and highlights are still worth savoring.

A Truly International Flavor

Entering the international pavilion of the Expo, visitors were greeted by a bustling crowd and the strong aroma of "foreign coffee." At the exhibition halls, products from Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, India, the Russian Federation, Iran, Tajikistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other countries attracted attention. Stalls were filled with a variety of exotic products: coffee, milk powder, chocolate, bread, honey, wine, sausages, wooden crafts, porcelain, carpets, jade, and other unique foods, agricultural products, and handicrafts. It resembled a vast "global agricultural supermarket," sparking a shopping "fever" among Chinese visitors. Foreign exhibitors, speaking fluent Mandarin, skillfully promoted their agricultural products, busy with eager customers.

The trade of agricultural products among the public was booming, and official forum activities were held with great enthusiasm. Both grassroots and official interactions promoted widespread and in-depth international exchanges.

This year’s Yangling Agricultural High-tech Expo featured several key international cooperation activities, highlighting the following characteristics:

More Targeted Initiatives

  • China-Central Asia Agricultural Ministers' Meeting: This was the first event following the China-Central Asia Summit’s outcomes, focusing on furthering agricultural cooperation between China and Central Asia.
  • China-Africa Agricultural Cooperation Conference: This was organized in line with the outcomes of President Xi Jinping’s participation in the BRICS summit and aimed at promoting the construction of the China-Africa Modern Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training Center in Yangling.
  • Global Soil Health and Food Security Forum: The first-ever forum of its kind in China was held, focusing on global soil health and food security issues.
  • Belt and Road Agricultural Exchange: The 8th Silk Road Agricultural Education and Technology Innovation Alliance Annual Meeting, 2nd Shanghai Cooperation Organization Agricultural University Presidents’ Forum, and Yangling International Agricultural Science and Technology Forum were held as part of efforts to build the Belt and Road International Agricultural Exchange Center.

All of these activities were more focused and targeted in their international outreach.

China-Central Asia Agricultural Ministers' Meeting

In line with the consensus reached during the China-Central Asia Summit, the first China-Central Asia Agricultural Ministers' Meeting was held on September 19 in Yangling, Shaanxi.

Ministers of Agriculture from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China, attended and delivered speeches. The meeting, themed "Promoting High-Level Agricultural Economic and Trade Cooperation, Ensuring Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural Development," provided a platform for in-depth exchanges on further practical cooperation in agriculture. The Joint Statement on Strengthening Agricultural Investment and Trade Cooperation to Promote Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural Development was approved at the meeting. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Ma Youxiang, along with Chief Economist and Director of the Office, Wei Baigang, also participated in the discussions.
